Short answer: the Mystic Majestic is the suit to buy when you kite or wing through the cold months and want the warmest, stretchiest suit Mystic makes without a hood. It is a front-zip fullsuit in Yamamoto 40 neoprene with Fox Fleece Ultra lining top to bottom, sold in 3/2, 4/3 and 5/3 mm. Pick the thickness from your water temperature, below, and buy it snug: it is cut sportier than Mystic's cheaper lines and the neoprene relaxes after a handful of sessions.
Which thickness
| Water temperature | Suit | Majestic 2026, as of this post |
|---|---|---|
| 65–75°F (18–24°C) | 3/2 fullsuit | 3/2 front-zip, $517 |
| 58–65°F (14–18°C) | 4/3 fullsuit | 4/3 front-zip, $528 |
| 50–58°F (10–14°C) | 5/3 with boots and hood | 5/3 front-zip, $539 |
| below 50°F (10°C) | 5/3 or 6/5 hooded, boots, gloves | Mystic's hooded Voltt or Gem, not the Majestic |
Those bands are our advisor's guidance for a rider moving hard and getting wet repeatedly, which is kiting and winging. Owners consistently report the Majestic runs warm for its rating — a 3/2 carrying a UK rider from summer into October — so if you sit on the line between two thicknesses, the thinner one is usually right for Florida, the Gulf and the Carolinas, and the thicker one for the Northeast, the Great Lakes and the Pacific. A 5/3 with boots and a separate hood covers 50°F water; below that Mystic makes the hooded Voltt and Gem.
What makes it the top of the range
- Yamamoto 40 limestone neoprene in the chest and arms — the stretchiest grade Mystic uses, upgraded from the Yamamoto 39 of the 2023 suit.
- Fox Fleece Ultra lining top to bottom, which is where the warmth-above-rating comes from, and it dries fast between sessions.
- Channel-flex ridged outer fabric for durability and faster drying; FusionFlex and UltraFlex panels; a seamless waist, so the harness sits on neoprene rather than a seam.
- Aquaflush 2.0 drains the water you take on in a crash without letting it back in; back-knee emboss so the suit bends where your knee does.
- Metal YKK front zip with a key pocket. Front zips flush less and take less strain than back zips in a kite crash; the trade is a tighter entry. Rinse the zip in fresh water.
The ladder in Mystic's men's line is Brand → Star → Marshall → Majestic → Voltt / The One. Each step buys better seam sealing, more lined area and stretchier neoprene. The Star 4/3 at $288 has the full feature set with less stretch and slightly less warmth; the Majestic 4/3 at $528 is what you pay for the Yamamoto 40 and full fleece.
How it fits: Mystic's size chart
| Size | Height | Chest | Waist |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 170–175 cm (5'7"–5'9") | 89–94 cm (35–37 in) | 75–80 cm (30–31 in) |
| M | 176–182 cm (5'9"–6'0") | 94–99 cm (37–39 in) | 80–85 cm (31–33 in) |
| L | 182–188 cm (6'0"–6'2") | 99–104 cm (39–41 in) | 85–90 cm (33–35 in) |
| XL | 186–196 cm (6'1"–6'5") | 104–111 cm (41–44 in) | 90–96 cm (35–38 in) |
| XXL | 188–196 cm (6'2"–6'5") | 111–119 cm (44–47 in) | 96–103 cm (38–41 in) |
Mystic also cuts Short (MS, LS) and Tall (ST, MT, LT, XLT) versions: same chest and waist, 5–7 cm less or more height. That is the real advantage of the chart — a 190 cm, 75 kg rider goes LT and gets the length without the width. Chest decides the size; height picks the S/T variant.
Honest limit: fit beats brand, and the Majestic does not fit everyone. Mystic's own US rep has said the brand fits smaller than some and bigger than others, and that the Majestic and Voltt are cut sportier than the roomier Brand line. Broad-shouldered, athletic riders report the shoulders tight and some size up; lean, tall riders find spare room in the torso and do better in the Tall cut. Owners also say the neoprene relaxes noticeably after roughly five to ten sessions, so a suit that feels restrictive new ends up right, and one bought loose ends up baggy. Durability reports are mixed across Mystic's range — some seam and zip failures, many suits lasting years — and the suit rewards freshwater rinsing and no machine washing. We exchange unworn suits for a different size, so measure, order by chest, and try it on dry.
FAQ
Is Mystic a good wetsuit brand?
For kiting and winging, yes: the seamless waist, front zip and Aquaflush drain exist because of harnesses and crashes, which is what the brand was built around. The honest caveat is fit — it suits broad, average-height builds best, and the Short and Tall sizes cover most of the rest.
Majestic 4/3 or 5/3?
4/3 for 58–65°F water, 5/3 below that down to about 50°F with boots and a hood. If your season spans both, the 4/3 plus a hood and boots stretches further than a 5/3 does in warm water.
Front zip or back zip?
Front zip if you kite: less flushing in a crash and less strain on the zip. Back zip if you cannot get into a front zip alone — the 2023 Majestic 5/4 back-zip is $490 as of this post and has the same seamless waist and Aquaflush.
