Short answer: buy the Saga if the bag goes in an airline hold, the Patrol XL if you want the same capacity a kilo lighter and $130 cheaper, and the Elevate if you fly with kites more often than boards. Size by board length: a 145 cm bag takes any North twintip up to the 144, the 165 takes the 148 and 152 Prime and the Trace, and surf and foil bags are sized in feet to match the boards. Every figure below is Mystic's.

Bag weight scales with padding. The Saga line is 600D recycled polyester with four PU coatings on the body and a tarpaulin base, and it weighs a kilo more than the Patrol in the same size. The Patrol is PU-coated 600D with padding on the sides, lighter and cheaper, with the same wheels. The Elevate is nylon ripstop over a collapsible pole frame: it is for the rider who flies with three kites and rents or ships the board, and it folds flat when the poles come out.
Which size
Mystic sizes twintip bags by nominal length and surf and foil bags in feet. Match the bag to the longest board going in it:
| Your board | Length | Bag |
|---|---|---|
| North Astra, Atmos, Atmos Pro, Atmos Ultra, Prime up to 144, Focus | 127–144 cm | 145 cm |
| Prime 148 and 152, Trace 145 and 155 | 145–155 cm | 165 cm |
| Two twintips plus kites | any | 165 or 175 cm, Saga XL or Patrol XL |
| North Cross, Charge Pro, Comp Pro surfboards | 4'10"–5'9" | Saga Surf 6.0 ft |
| North Seek Pro, Seek 2025 small sizes | 4'9"–5'5" | Foil bag 5.1 or 5.6 ft |
| North Seek 2026, Midi | 5'5"–6'4" | Foil bag 5.6 or 6.1 ft |
A 145 cm bag around a 141 cm board is the right amount of slack: fins come off (the TT Accessory Kit includes them), bindings stay on, and the kites pad the rails. A 175 around one 138 flaps and gets thrown. Foilboards go in the bag without the foil; the mast, fuselage and wing travel in the Gearbag Foil or inside the Saga Foil's divider, which Mystic built with its own pockets and tie-downs for exactly that.
Honest limit: Mystic's capacity claims are "up to": two twintips and three kites in a 165 Saga XL is a full bag, and a 13m kite and a 9m kite are not the same object. Airlines, not Mystic, decide what the bag costs to fly, and Mystic's note that many airlines carry a golf bag free is their marketing, not a guarantee; check your carrier before you buy the Golfbag for that reason. We do not publish internal dimensions because Mystic does not, so if your board is a non-North shape near a size break, measure it and size up. Bags are returnable unused within 30 days, and orders over $100 ship free in the US.
Which to buy
- Flying with one board and kites: Saga 145 or 165. The padding is the point.
- Flying with two twintips, or counting every kilo: Patrol XL. Same capacity, about a kilo lighter, from $216.
- Road trips and the back of the truck: Patrol XL or a Saga Surf; the wheels and the heavy padding earn nothing in a car.
- Wing or foil travel: Patrol Foil Wheeled at $252–$276 carries the full setup; the Saga Foil adds the padded divider and a kilo and a half.

FAQ
Does a 145 cm bag fit a 144 cm board?
Yes. North's 144x43 twintips fit the 145 Saga, Saga XL, Patrol XL and Elevate with the fins off. Only the Prime 148 and 152 and the Trace need the 165.
Saga or Patrol?
Saga for airline holds: thicker fabric, more padding, more coatings. Patrol when weight and price matter more than padding; it is about a kilo lighter and $130 less in the same size.
Can I put the foil in the board bag?
In the Saga Foil, yes: its divider has pockets and tie-downs for the mast and wings. In the Patrol bags, carry the foil separately in the Gearbag Foil, 110 or 135 cm by mast length.
