North Seek foil board review: which size for your weight, and Seek vs Seek Pro vs Seek Air

North Seek Foil Board 2026

Short answer: the North Seek is the wing foil board for most riders — North rates it 4/5 for stability and 4/5 for early takeoff, and it is the board North builds the learn-to-wing (Seek Prime), inflatable (Seek Air) and performance (Seek Pro) versions from. Size it by weight using North's own chart: a novice takes about 20 L over bodyweight in kg, a confident rider ("floater") takes a board that just floats them, and an advanced rider ("sinker") goes 25–30 L under bodyweight.

Which size: North's rider-weight chart

This is North's chart for the 2025 Seek, the last year it published one. The 2026 Seek is 1–2 inches longer and slightly narrower at each size and uses the same volume logic:

Seek size Volume Width Novice Floater Sinker
4'9" 58 L 22¼ in — under 60 kg (132 lb) 83–88 kg (183–194 lb)
4'11" 68 L 23½ in over 50 kg under 70 kg (154 lb) 93–98 kg (205–216 lb)
5'1" 78 L 24½ in over 60 kg under 80 kg (176 lb) 103–108 kg (227–238 lb)
5'3" 88 L 25½ in over 70 kg under 90 kg (198 lb) —
5'5" 98 L 26½ in over 80 kg under 100 kg (220 lb) —
5'7" 108 L 27½ in over 90 kg under 110 kg (243 lb) —
5'9" 118 L 28½ in over 100 kg under 120 kg (265 lb) —
5'11" 138 L 29 in over 100 kg under 140 kg (309 lb) —

Read it as three rules. Learning: bodyweight in kg plus roughly 20 L, so an 80 kg (176 lb) rider starts on the 98 L 5'5" or the 108 L 5'7". Progressing: a board that floats you with a little to spare — the same 80 kg rider on the 88 L 5'3". Advanced: a sinker 25–30 L under bodyweight, which is the 58 L 4'9" for an 85 kg rider. North's own guidance is to avoid the half-floating zone 10–20 L under bodyweight; a board that fully submerges is steadier to start than one breaking the surface.

The split for 2026 is by size as much as by build: the Seek covers the bigger, floatier sizes and the Seek Pro the compact sinker sizes, with a point more manoeuvrability and top speed. The Seek Air is the inflatable — the 5'9" and 6'2" ship with removable side fins so you can learn to wing without a foil or use it as a paddleboard, and its pump also inflates your wing. All three have the 90 mm DropBox track, so any Sonar foil, or most other brands' masts, drop straight in.

Honest limit: the chart is North's and assumes flat-ish water and a normal-sized wing. Chop and a small wing push you up a size; a big wing and a big front foil let you get away with less. Owners also give two warnings worth repeating: the T-nuts in the DropBox want cleaning so they do not seize over years, and the thumb screws should be hand-tightened and checked mid-session. Paint chips on the rails are cosmetic, not structural.

What it costs

As of this post the 2026 Seek is $1,789 (5'5") to $1,899 (5'11"), 5'5", 5'7" and 5'11" in stock. The 2025 Seek — the chart above — is on clearance at 35% off, $1,091 to $1,195, with the 4'9" and 5'3" left. The Seek Air is $1,159 to $1,379. Orders over $100 ship free in the US, and a board with a wing and a harness or wetsuit takes 10% off as a bundle.

FAQ

What size Seek for an 80 kg beginner?

The 98 L 5'5" or 108 L 5'7". North's chart lists both as novice sizes for over 80 kg; take the 5'7" if your spot is choppy or your wing is small.

Does the Seek come with a foil?

No. It ships with the board and a titanium DropBox screw pack. Add a complete foil — mast, fuselage, stabilizer and front wing — and foot straps if you want them.

Will a non-North foil fit?

Usually. The DropBox track is the industry-standard 90 mm spacing, and North says its boards are compatible with most foil systems. We only verify North Sonar combinations ourselves.

Board volume rules are on the wing sizing page; the gear advisor will give you a size from your weight and level.
